Name meanings...what does 'Brittany' and 'Lynn' Mean?

I have to do this assignment and we have to do the meanings of names of the people we interviewed...but the only thing I can find for 'Brittany' is that it's from France or something...I need like the adjectives or something...

Name meanings...what does 'Brittany' and 'Lynn' Mean?
One of the problems you face is that many modern names (such as Brittany) are used simply because people (parents, mostly) think they are distinctive and sound cool. The older first names which were Anglicized (such as John, James, Andrew, Peter) have meanings that are rooted in their original language.

"Brittany" comes from the name of a region of France, as you know. One online source I checked says that it is so-called for the particular language of the area, "Armorican" or "Armoric", meaning "before the sea". I'd think it's referring to the magnificent coastline of Brittany.

Are last names included? If so, there are lots of possibilities.

EDIT: "Lynn" comes from the Irish name "Flynn" and means "ruddy complexion". The site mentioned that the earlier form of the name may come from Gaelic for "lake", "pool", or "waterfall". Lynn is also a diminutive of "Linda" which means "pretty" in Spanish and Portuguese.

Hope that helps.
